Your carpet needs professional deep cleaning at least two times a year to maintain its spotless look. It’s also crucial for reducing signs of wear and tear and extending your carpet’s lifespan.

While there are many methods that professional carpet cleaners use to achieve these results, you need to know which one is the best for you.

In this article, we will explore all the different carpet cleaning methods that experts use, including the ones we use ourselves to help you make the best decision for your carpet.

Different Carpet Cleaning Methods Used By Professionals

1. Hot Water Extraction

Hot water extraction is the most popular carpet cleaning method, and it gives all the benefits of regularly deep cleaning your carpet. It is also the method our experts prefer when cleaning residential carpets.

Here, we use our powerful truck-mounted machine and inject hot water into the carpet, which loosens up the debris, dirt, and dust from inside, making them easier to remove.

Then, we extract the pollutants with the extraction option and dispose of them along with the dirty water from cleaning. It gives you spotlessly clean carpets that look great and retain their appearance for longer.

2. Dry Carpet Cleaning

The dry carpet cleaning method is a fairly new technique that involves using a dry chemical compound to clean the carpet. Here, the experts sprinkle the powder all over the carpet after vacuuming it.

Then, they use an agitator machine to scrub the compound deeper into the carpet fibers for effective cleaning. They leave the powder on the carpet for some time to let it absorb all the dirt, dust, and grime. Lastly, they vacuum up the cleaning agent, leaving your carpet clean.

People prefer the dry cleaning method due to the shorter drying period that requires little to no downtime. It is an excellent choice for maintenance cleaning but is not powerful enough to deep clean large carpets.

3. Encapsulation Cleaning

Next, we have encapsulation cleaning, which is another maintenance cleaning method. Similar to dry cleaning, this method also uses a cleaning agent that turns into tiny crystals when applied to the carpet.

The crystals absorb the contaminants on the carpet, and when the experts vacuum it, they remove these pollutants along with the cleaning compound. Encapsulation cleaning is suitable for cleaning high-traffic commercial carpets due to its low drying time.

It is also cost-effective and will give you clean carpets without breaking the bank. But like the dry carpet cleaning method, encapsulation cleaning doesn’t give deep carpet cleaning, as the compound only works on the surface.

4. Bonnet Cleaning

Bonnet cleaning is another effective method for cleaning commercial carpets. The difference between this and encapsulation cleaning is the machines used. The former uses a machine with special pads called bonnets for carpet cleaning.

These bonnets get changed at least one to three times during a single cleaning session, which helps remove excess dirt, dust, and grime from the carpet. Bonnet cleaning works on commercial carpets because they are very thin.

However, we don’t recommend using bonnet cleaning on your plush residential carpet, as that can lead to excess damage.

Depending on your carpet type and cleaning requirements, there are different methods that you can choose. The ones we have listed are the common methods that most carpet cleaning companies use. Some companies also provide more than one type of cleaning, so it’s best to ask before you book an appointment.
